  • Introduction

This recital presents a musical journey steeped in the spirit of autumn, centered on Johannes Brahms’s celebrated violin sonatas. With refined interpretation and exceptional technique, the performers bring out the profound emotions embedded in each work. The evening offers a rare opportunity to experience both the classical beauty and the lyrical colors of Brahms, allowing the audience to encounter his music with renewed depth and resonance.

Violinist Jiyoon Lee is the first Asian female to be appointed concertmaster for life at the renowned Staatskapelle Berlin, an orchestra with a history of 450 years. BBC Music Magazine praised her for her “full-bodied tone and consistently energetic playing,” while The New York Times described her as “a distinctive soloist with a sumptuous sound.” Winner of the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition, she has also earned prizes in many other prestigious international competitions and has performed with leading orchestras including the Belgian National Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, and Slovak Philharmonic.

Pianist Jiyoung Moon, winner of both the Busoni International Piano Competition in Italy and the Geneva International Music Competition in Switzerland, has often been compared to the legendary Martha Argerich. She has appeared with eminent artists such as Myung-Whun Chung, Yuri Bashmet, Sascha Goetzel, and Yoel Levi, and has performed with world-class ensembles including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Her concerts have taken her to prestigious venues such as Leipzig’s Gewandhaus, Dvořák Hall in Prague, Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, and London’s Wigmore Hall. Recently recommended by Sir András Schiff, she is presenting a series of recitals across Europe’s foremost concert halls in the 2024–25 season.
